Miguel Rodriguez
I really liked Miguel’s high angle shot. I thought that it was risky that he stood on a ladder to take the shot. Being a risk taker is a useful school for any photographers or students in film class, such as AICE Media. Also, I liked how his little brother, Allen, tried making a shot into the basket...such an adorable kid.
Miguel’s establishing shot was beautifully executed. I loved the setting and the soothing, peaceful emotion it evoked. The shot wasn’t shaky and the camera was set at a good angle. Personally, establishing shots are one of my favorites to film and I’m always amazed when I see how others greatly execute it.
The point of view shot was one of the funniest shots I liked from Miguel’s blog. It made me feel like I was truly viewing Allen through his eyes. The shot was a little shaky but still came out good. Also, I thought that it was funny that Allen barely caught the apple. He’s a great subject and a good little brother for helping Miguel out.
I thought that the full shot was one of Miguel's best shots. It captured the full frame of the subject in the camera and fit perfectly. The camera wasn't shaky and I liked the setting of the shot. I found the commentary really funny because of how he bribed the subject with M&Ms to film the shot. That's a very Miguel thing to do!
Astrid Nova
I thought that Astrid’s choker shot was well executed. The camera was still and she was able to fit the top of the subject’s frame perfectly. Her subject did not look uncomfortable, which is a common feeling when filming the choker shot. Also, the lighting was able to capture the subject’s full essence.
Astrid’s dolly shot surprised me. Most photographers, like me, are usually shaky with the camera and cannot stabilize it very well. However, Astrid’s shot was not as shaky and showed the effects of the dolly shot at a good angle.
The angle the follow shot was filmed was good. It showed the full body of the subject and a head on approach to what she was going to do. The follow shot usually builds anticipation and suspense to the story as the viewers or audience have no clue what the subject will do next.
Lastly, the high angle shot was alright. The subject appeared small enough from a high angle distance. Astrid was able to capture her full body and diminish her size, which are usually requirements for the high angle shot. The shot was filmed in a nice location, with no background distractions. This allows the audience to solely focus on the subject’s size and actions.
