Contrast
For the contrast shot, we decided to leave in the direct sound because it described what was happening in the clip. I was saying hi to Jonathan and complimenting him, which played in showing the contrast between my character. The second part of the clip was a voice over, recorded by me. This voice over helps provide clear insight for what is occurring in the scene. In this case, I was pushing Miguel to the ground, which displays the mean side of my character. I kind of felt bad for pushing him, but he willingly complied, so no harm done there. :)
Parallelism
For the parallelism clips, music was used. The song "Today was a Good Day" by the legend, Ice Cube displayed Miguel and I walking towards each other. The song is originally very upbeat and conveys a "happy" tone, which played in well with Miguel's shot, when he was walking towards me. Usually when people are swinging their arms as they're walking, there' s a sense of happiness that is evoked to the viewers.
Symbolism
The symbolism shot involved a non-diegetic sound. The "dream harp" sound was one that the audience could hear but we could not. This sound signifies a dream or deeper perception of reality. Zooming into the camera on the AICE Media pass and zooming out onto the real camera helped describe that perception of reality. This sound can also be used in movies to show characters having a flashback to a past scene that they're describing in the present.
Simultaneity
The soundtrack of Death Note's "ABC" was used to create a sound bridge between the two shots of Miguel and I walking up the stairs. To create suspense, Miguel suggested the soundtrack of the anime series,, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure: Golden Wind "Il Vento D'oro. This conveyed the feeling of suspense as we're walking up, leaving the reader wondering what will happen when we reach the top of the stairs. This soundtrack tied in well with our shot because in the series, the soundtrack signifies suspense or a battle between the characters.
Leit Motif
This shot involved music from the iconic song, "Eye of the Tiger". This song tied in well with our theme of finishing the race. When used in movies, "Eye of the Tiger'' usually emphasizes motivation or deeper focus of a goal. In our case, the song motivated me to finish the race since it looked like I was losing in the beginning. This tied in with the lyrics, "You must fight just to keep them alive". It also synced with the tapping of our feet in the beginning of the shot. At the end, I lifted my arms up in the air to show victory and that I overcame a "difficult" obstacle.

The Leit Motiff showed me the desire, determination, and motivation to keep pushing and accomplishing your "task" from the type of song you choose for this.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the sound effect you used for your Leit Motif clip. I liked the way your feet were synchronized with music in the beginning, it allowed the reader to infer that something big were to happen next. The Song eye of the tiger was a great choice for your video because it really showed how determined you were to finish the race even after you fell.
